Tiny restaurant with a big heart, outstanding food, and ice cold beer. Paco's empanadas were some of the best things I ate in Antigua. But we could not stop there. We also tried the pasta (Alfredo), quesadillas, and lemon pie. Everything was delicious, including the Pico de Gallo and Salsa Verde that came on the side. I love that there is a limited menu of quality dishes that are done really well.
The restaurant's deep blue exterior is matched by a soulful blues soundtrack and an eclectic collection of photographs and posters on the walls. We popped in for a quick bite and stayed for hours, locked in conversation with some of the incredibly interesting people who are drawn to this special little restaurant.
Behind the counter, Paco and his team prep and cook each dish with passion, a wee bit of flair, and a grounded smile. There is a dream here with the potential to grow. Empanadas de Paco has a great vibe, and is a must-do for anyone visiting Antigua. Yes, there is a lot of restaurants in town, but there are not a great many that has real, undiluted El Fuego spirit.
