A Perfect Day in Antigua 🇬🇹
If you were my friend visiting Antigua for the first time, this is one way I’d spend the day.
A good breakfast, a little history and art, an experience you can actually take part in, sunset views, and dinner to finish the day.
This is Part 1 — and there are plenty more ways to spend a perfect day in Antigua depending on what you’re into.
Save this for your next trip.
Start the day with a proper breakfast.
We stopped at El Local for a bacon, egg & cheese bagel with yuca chips — simple, filling and exactly what we wanted before spending the day walking around Antigua.
@ellocalantigua
Antigua isn’t just about walking through beautiful streets. Take some time to actually step inside the places that tell the story of Guatemala.
Capuchinas gives you a glimpse into Antigua’s colonial past, while MUNAG takes you through thousands of years of Guatemalan art and culture inside the historic Real Palacio de los Capitanes Generales.
After exploring the city, slow down and actually experience something local.
We joined a cooking class where we got to prepare the food ourselves, learn from the chef, and sit down together to enjoy what we made.
This is the kind of experience we’d choose when we want to do more than just visit Antigua — we want to experience it.
@real_xperienc
End the afternoon above the rooftops of Antigua. 🌅
After a day of exploring, head up to the rooftop at La Merced for one of those moments where you can just slow down and take in the city.
You’ll get views of Antigua’s rooftops, the surrounding mountains, and, if you time it right, that beautiful golden light as the sun goes down.
This is the part of the day where I’d stop trying to see things and just enjoy where I am.
📍 La Merced, Antigua Guatemala
For dinner, we’d head to Por Qué No? — a small, colorful restaurant where the atmosphere is almost as fun as the food.
You can watch the chefs working behind the bar, grab a seat at the counter, and even leave your mark on the walls with the restaurant’s famous doodles.
After a full day exploring Antigua, this felt like the right kind of place to end it: good food, good company, and no need to take the night

There’s a place in Antigua where ordering a drink feels a little more theatrical. 🔥
Smoke, fire, cocktails, coffee, dessert, and a space full of details that make you want to look around.
This is El Alquimista — and it’s one I’d bring a friend to when we want a night in Antigua that feels a little different.

A Ruben sandwich in Antigua? 👀
We found this one at Luana, a restaurant + coffee shop with a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of options for coffee, drinks, and food.
Their take on the Ruben was what brought us in, but the space itself makes it an easy spot to spend some time.

Not every place is trying to be the loudest in the room.
Some earn their reputation one conversation, one laugh, and one regular at a time.
Mancha is one of those places. A small bar where the atmosphere isn’t created by the music or the menu—it’s created by the people who walk through the door.
If you’re looking for a night that feels a little more local and a little less planned, this might be your next stop.
