“A baroque work with Solomonic details of more than 350 years that is an icon in Antigua Guatemala since its façade is next to the entrance of the San Pedro hospital. A few meters away is the Union tank that contrasts with this church due to its colors.” -Alexierra
Iglesia de San Pedro Apostol, initially built in 1548, has experienced damage and reconstruction due to earthquakes and disasters. Its façade displays intricate carvings, and inside, stunning artwork and sculptures grace the walls and altars. Notably, the wooden ceiling features intricate carvings of angels and religious figures. Serving as a spiritual hub, regular masses are held. With its architectural and artistic allure, the church is a must-visit for those intrigued by history, art, and architecture.
Please note that many of the entrance fees for landmarks, parks, and museums are subsidized by the government for Guatemalan citizens. You may notice a price difference for foreigners.
