Amazing service and guides for Overnight Acatenango Volcano hike My overall experience on my trip up Acatenango is not reflective of the service provided by OTO. I did the overnight hike and camping with this group. While I did not get out of this trip what I had envisioned due to weather conditions, which is completely out of OTO’s control, what I will say is that from start to finish OTO provided top of the line service! Rolando (aka Rolo) my guide made the trip a hell of a lot easier than had I gone with another agency. While other agencies take groups of 30-40 people at a hurried pace (resulting in many people turning back), OTO provides a guide for every 7 people they take up. Having a smaller group (3 total in mine) definitely helps in several ways. Rolo made sure there was no pressure to hurry and allowed me to go at my own pace even though I was consistently trailing by a few minutes. He’d often climb back down to check on me. OTO provides tents for every person while other agencies have bunked cabins. This may turn off people at first, but the tents really do insulate you through the night. As far as temperature, I slept pretty comfortably through the night without having to sleep with a coat. Can’t say enough good things about Rolo. Experienced, friendly, considerate, the list goes on. I would definitely recommend OTO over other agencies!

overnight trip to lake Atitlán-bike, paddle, and hike My husband and I went on a 2 day private tour to lake Atitlan and had a wonderful experience. Vini was a great guide--enthusiastic, flexible, responsive to last minute requests, well prepared, and well organized. We biked the first day--an easy ride mostly downhill with a deluxe picnic lunch prepared by Vini and the driver, spent the night at a hotel on the shores of the lake (beautiful, great food) then paddled and hiked the next day.

Great for beginners who want to ride around town We really enjoyed our ride around Antigua valley and Ciudad Vieja. From other reviews, it sounds like this route may vary by tour. It was advertised as Beginner, and I would say that was accurate. Our route was mostly flat or downhill with one difficult climb (which we walked most of the way up).
We stopped at a chocolate workshop, a fruit wine workshop, and a jade workshop where we got a little "tour" of the process and a chance to shop their products. The ride itself was a great way to visit some of these smaller downtowns outside Antigua. We were also lucky to also see the Lenten "carpets" that are made of sawdust and flowers in the street each Sunday of Lent before the Jesus and Mary are led through the towns. What a beautiful experience!

First trip to Antigua Our tour guide Maria was wonderful and so much fun. Our local guide, Veronica, was also a wonderful addition to the hike. It was just 4 of us which made it more personable. The hike is quite steep but they were gracious to stop whenever I needed a break. There are horses if you need a ride up. We had a great lunch, great conversation, and beautiful atmosphere. A wonderful experience.

All-round well organised trip with fantastic scenery This is an excellent, smaller group tour to stay overnight on Acatenango, with Fuego visible from your tent.
Great food, excellent guides & porters and a fantastic camping location.
Our group naturally broke into 2 smaller groups - a faster one & slower - & each group had an excellent guide which made it safe, inclusive & enjoyable. We saw larger groups with a smaller ratio of guides & we saw someone get altitude sickness without her guide in sight. Also people turning around & not making it up to the top - our guides were always nearby & on the lookout for signs of fatigue or altitude sickness.
Our guide, Vini, was entertaining & knowledgeable, with lots of positive energy & great photography skills.
