Corn is a very important ingredient in Guatemalan culture and people and one of the first foods prepared by Mayans was tamales. In this workshop, you will learn with a Mayan traditional cook how to prepare sweet and salty tamales with fresh criollo corn masa, local ingredients, and traditional culinary techniques.
Best way to start your trip We are very happy that we chose to do this tour. Rebecca was fantastic and has a real passion for what she does. Excellent!

Great experience We had the most wonderful time learning to cook Tamales, Pepian, and Plantains with mole! María, Diego, and Monica were beyond welcoming and supportive. They answered all our questions and made us feel right at home. It was such a special experience and gave us so much appreciation for the level of time, effort and love that goes into all the yummy dishes we consumed while on our visit to Guatemala. We haven't stopped talking about the Plantain Mole we ate and hope to make it soon. Thank you, Kukul!

Can't miss foodie experience in Antigua! This tour was one of the best things we did in Antigua. The food we ate was amazing and it was so cool to try traditional Guatemalan dishes. Our guide, Xoshil, was so warm and welcoming and made the experience unforgettable. She even added a stop at a local coffee shop after hours since we had mentioned that we love coffee, which made the experience feel personal and special. 10/10 experience, definitely do this while you're in Antigua!

Great food tour, guide and communication with Kukul Tales! We did the Foodie and Street tour in February of 2025 with Xoshil and had such a wonderful time as a group of 5 + another couple. We enjoyed learning about the various dishes - from typical dishes to different types of desserts - it was a great experience. Starting in the beautiful Central Park before being whisked away in TukTuk’s to our first stop - it was a great way to see Antigua. Xoshil took time to answer all of our questions, share information about the food, the city and Guatemalan culture and stuck around as we enjoyed delicious cocktails at the end.
The logistics, communication, instructions, etc were all seamlessly and they even helped us coordinate some private car transfer on another day of our trip. Highly recommend Kukul Tales!
