I had the pleasure of having lunch at Santo Spirito on my first day in Antigua Guatemala. The place is absolutely stunning: I loved the décor, which is simple yet sophisticated.
We were the first table to arrive for lunch, and the staff were extremely attentive and welcoming. The menu is written on a blackboard that the staff bring to each table. While this is a charming touch, it could perhaps be reconsidered to offer a smoother experience and reduce the workload for the staff.
The food was outstanding. We started with fish croquettes and a tartare, both of which were incredibly delicious. For the main course, we ordered ravioli and tagliatelle with chorizo ragù, and neither disappointed. I was expecting smaller ravioli rather than a single large one, but this turned out not to be an issue at all. Overall, it was one of the best meals I had in Guatemala.
The restaurant is expensive by Guatemalan standards, but this is to be expected given the ambiance, quality, and type of cuisine served. Honestly, it was worth every penny. I will definitely return on my next trip to Antigua, I’d love to experience the restaurant at dinner time as well.
