You can't leave Antigua without coming to this place... 10/10

Wow! Maxán prepares DELICIOUS and beautiful dishes in a great atmosphere of a restaurant. Each dish was exquisitely prepared, with carefully placed and perfectly selected herbs and adornments. The kitchen is open to view, running smoothly, in a clean and organized environment. These are top chefs creating art. The best part is the focus is mesoamerican fusion. They take traditional dishes from Latin America with heirloom ingredients and give it a fresh preparation without trying too hard. If you are interested in enjoying more local flavors and also want an excellent exquisitely prepared meal, come to Maxán. The staff is friendly and attentive. We came as a group of 7, 2 adults and 5 teenagers, which can be challenging to staff. They created a beuatiful table for us and answered all our many questions. The staff takes pride in their menu and restuarant. Don't miss during your stay in Antigua!

Food was incredible, lots of unique flavors. Standouts were the ceviche, the tacos, and the fish. Santiago was very attentive and helped guide our choices.

We went here for lunch and I have to commend the server he was very polite and readily available to answer our questions. As it relates to the actual food the guacamole was very tasty, not enough chips, but still very tasty and one of the best items we ordered here. We also tried the tomale - it was also very delicious 😋 we had two other dishes the shrimp with stuffed crab, great effort on trying to create something different, but it wasn’t great, the batter wasn’t tasty and neither was the filing. We also had the steak with rice and beans and that too was just okay, for the cost I’m sure you can get way better in Antigua. I wish we tried the ceviche as that seemed to have been popular amongst other reviewers. The presentation of the meals was also beautifully put together

We stopped in a whim on our last night in Guate. We had apps and drinks and everything was incredible. We had the mixed ceviche trio and all three were stellar. Our favorite was the Caribbean Ceviche. The cocktails were good and service was very friendly and spoke english well. Highly recommend to anyone in Antigua.
