El Carmen Hotel

Hotel was cute and cozy and so was room but my room shouldnt be a room. Its right under rooftop kitchen and right next to the entrance of the rooftop restaurant so its very noisy til almost 11pm and back at 6am. The room smelled of mold even though the bed and linen were great!Morning breakfast was great and they kindly packed it to go since i was living to airport very early.

Our stay at El Carmen Hotel was exceptional from start to finish. The room cleanliness was above and beyond—spotless, comfortable, and truly cared for. The staff was professional, attentive, and seemed to anticipate every need before we even asked.

Coordinating tours and transportation was flawless; everything ran smoothly and on time, making our experience stress-free. The restaurant was absolutely glorious—every dish was perfectly prepared and full of flavor.

The location couldn’t be better, right in the heart of the city with everything just steps away.

Overall, a perfect stay. El Carmen Hotel is an easy 10/10.

Fabulous stay. The bed was comfortable and room had everything that we needed. The towel sculptures were cute. Beautiful greenery all through the hotel. Lovely staff, especially Daniel who remembered what we like at breakfast (how we liked our eggs cooked, and coffee with milk). Breakfast was excellent, best we've had on our travels. The view from the restaurant is phenomenal!!!

Beautiful rooftop and great location!

The rooftop at El Carmen Hotel is honestly the best in Antigua! The view is incredible, especially at sunset, and we had dinner there, the food was amazing. Breakfast is also served on the rooftop, freshly prepared by the restaurant in the morning, and it’s the perfect way to start the day.

We stayed in Room 101, which was right in front of the reception area, so it was a bit noisy and we couldn’t really open the window for privacy. When we checked in, our room wasn’t ready yet, but the staff kindly let us change in the bathroom and store our luggage, which was very helpful.

For my boyfriend’s birthday, I had hoped to plan a little surprise in the room, but the hotel’s package was $55 USD and had to be booked 24 hours in advance. I ended up bringing my own balloons (only $1 from the dollar store!) and decorated while he was in the shower; it worked out perfectly. However, at the restaurant the went along with the surprise birthday and gave my boyfriend a cake with a candle for his birthday!

The rooms are a bit humid, but the air conditioning was a big plus and made the stay comfortable overall.

Overall, the rooftop views is a must to go while you’re in Antigua, either stay there or eat at their restaurant, they have great food, and friendly staff make El Carmen a lovely place to stay in Antigua!
