Tartines

Amazing view over the ruins and great food.

Small place with great service and great food. We started with the shrimp soufflé. It’s spinach wrapped and it was the best dish we had all week. I really enjoyed the steak with the peppercorn sauce - perfectly cooked and served with crispy fries. We had to have the very tasty chocolate mousse. Probably the best meal we had all week.

The staff were JERKS to me as a single female eating alone, all while treating all the tables nearby very well. I’ve never had worse service in Antigua. They tried telling me at first that they only had bottles and half bottles, until I insisted for a glass. I watched other tables be served fresh bread, while I wasn’t offered any (ironically, I was seated right across from the free bread lol, so I just got to look at it the whole time). I had to beg for the check from 2 different servers for 15 minutes, and when they brought it… it was for 600Q. Wasn’t even my check.

The view is beautiful from the terrace, but I didn’t get to enjoy that either. The food was fine; but most places I’ve eaten here are MUCH better quality.

I love this city and its people so much, so I was genuinely a bit heartbroken by the experience.

What a wonderful experience! The location was a nice break from the noise of the street. The upstairs shaded patio was quiet and a nice temperature. The food was heavenly! I'm a big seafood fan, but am often disappointed with overcooked and underflavored fish. They did a spectactular job on the fish. The green beans were cooked perfectly. The bread, side dishes, and dessert were heavenly. The staff were incredibly attentive and helpful without being intrusive. The restaurant and restroom were clean and had fun and unique decor. The prices were more than reasonable for this kind of service and fare. Can't recommend Tartines enough. Will def be dining there whenever I go back to Antigua.
