Casa Gitana Hostel & Traveler’s Home

We stayed 3 days in the beginning of our trip to Guatemala and another 2 days at the end in this Hostel because we liked it so much. Carlos is a great host, he gave us a map of Antigua and showed and explained everything: where to get groceries, where the bakery is, where you can get good local food, and where to find all of the tourist attractions and much more. He has very good local connections if you want to trips like the Volcano Acatenango. We asked around in the base camp and his price was by far the lowest. He cleans the hostel every day, changes the towels and prepares fresh coffee every morning. His hostel is 10 minutes by foot from the City Center, which means it is close but far enough so that the air is fresh and not full of traffic pollution. The wifi works perfectly, the kitchen has all the essentials but is a bit older. We recommend the bigger room for two people as you have more space for your things, the smaller rooms and the dorms are perfect for budget traveling! You’ll get a spint with a locker from Carlos. By sleeping in his hostel you support one of the little remaining local businesses:) thank you Carlos for everything!!

We had a wonderful time here. Carlos was more than just helpful. He basically help us organize all out trips here. It is clean and you habe everything you need. Wifi is good and you have an amazing garden. In the entrance is a Florist, so you always have an amazing smell. Perfect location and a nice atmosphere.
We loved it so much and felt so good here, after our two weeks traveling through the city we came back for another weekend.
We will always come back, if we will visit Antigua again.

This place is really nice. The manager, Carlos, is very helpful and chill. He helped us with recommendations and helped arrange transportation that saved us money.

The place is quiet at night, but there is a beautiful courtyard for meeting people and hanging out. There is so much plant life in the courtyard!!! You even walk through a flower shop to get in.

The showers were hot. The kitchens and bathroom were cleaned often.

I would definitely go back. It’s a gem!
(the Artist Cafe right around the corner is also a gem)

A great place to stay in and of itself - nice rooms, warm shower, free coffee, great location - but Carlos’ hospitality is in a league of its own. I plan to return!
